Education is a major aspect of the Global Marijuana March where dozens of speakers and activists groups are showcased on the EYE Weekly Speakers Stage. On Saturday, May 1st at Queen’s Park north, GMM puts the spotlight on local, national and international speakers and groups working to protect various freedoms. Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms recognizes that all citizens of Canada have the 'Right to Assemble,' and the 'Freedoms to Express and Choose' respectfully. The GMM welcomes the world to experience freedom Canadian style! The event takes place directly behind the provincial legislature where laws are made and challenged making it a very significant venue to carry forward the message of the GMM.

He founded the blocpot in 1997, a provincial political party dedicated to marijuana legalization and the marijuana party of Canada in 2000, Canada’s Federal party dedicated to the marijuana legalization. He was the editor in chief of the now defunct Heads Magazine and co founded the Montreal Compassion Centre in 1999, where he has been directing since 2002. During his time with the CSSDP he has been involved with putting together CSSDP’s annual national conferences, organizing lobby efforts, increasing the organization’s outreach efforts and presence nationally and internationally. CSSDP is a national grassroots youth and student organization, working to end the criminalization of drug users in Canada and working towards the promotion of honest youth drug education. Alison Myrden Law Enforcement Against Prohibition www.leap.cc In March of 2000, Alison Myrden received one of the first Ministerial Exemptions under Section 56 of the Canadian Controlled Drugs and Substances Act to be able to smoke, possess and grow Marijuana in Canada, legally for medicine. However, as her government paperwork did not (and could not) include directions to a pharmacy stocking Cannabis, Alison went to the media expressing her confusion and disappointment at being able to legally utilize her medicine but at the same time being left without a legal and safe supply. Alison has since maintained international exposure in the medical Cannabis movement through consistent media appearances in Canadian and other media from 1999 forward.

TRIP! Is a community-based, youth-led harm reduction project that has been serving the dance music community for 15 years. After ten years working TRIP! she has recently been promoted to the Project Coordinator position. In her years involved with TRIP! she has collaborated on a number of community-based research studies from community surveys on drug and sex practices to official CIHR studies on peer education evaluation.

6:30 pm- CLOSING SPEECHES Marc Emery Marc Emery, known around the world as the "Prince of Pot," is a Canadian cannabis advocate, as well as a former cannabis seed seller. He is the publisher of Cannabis Culture magazine, a founding member of the Freedom Party of Ontario, the Marijuana Party of Canada and the BC Marijuana Party, founder of the Iboga Therapy House and founder of Pot-TV. Emery started Marc Emery Direct Marijuana Seeds in 1995, which he ran until it was closed by a raid by Vancouver police acting on the request of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on July 29, 2005. This has led to him being currently scheduled to be extradited to the United States for a sentence of five years. Emery was taken into custody on September 28, 2009 and held at the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam, BC, to await extradition to the USA. On November 18, 2009, Emery was released on bail, pending the Canadian Minister of Justice signing the extradition order
